Tech Corner

Has anyone had experience with OLED monitors? It seems they don't come cheaply yet! I've found a couple of options but would like to hear others' experiences :)
We have OLED tvs here and the smallest they do is 48 inch and they cost $thousands. We don't have any OLED computer monitors or didn't have any 6 months ago when I was looking for a monitor.

I know OLED technology is one of the more recent ones to hit the market. I thought the AUS market would have more access since its imports from South Korea and Taiwan would be more common.

On a side note, I ended up ordering the MSI Mag. After looking at reviews, it seems like the best deal currently. Most would wait till black friday, but my experience with tech sites these last few years has shown that the deals on 'Friday' are usually the same in the weeks leading up to it.

I think the price is why they aren't being sold in more sizes. We have a major housing and cost of living crisis here and there are working class homeless now. People are struggling to pay rent, let alone spend $3000 plus for a tv. I will say the OLED tvs had a beautiful picture and the colours were amazing but there's no chance of finding the money for them.

The do do smaller than 48 inches. My 43 inch is OLED.

What size do you have that cost thousands? My 55 inch LG was around $750.00 USD.

my version of win11 home basic edition doesn't have check boxes for show gallery or home. It looks the same as the picture you provided.
Yes, it's been removed, now you right click in free space of the left panel and options for:

Show Libraries
Show all Folders

Will appear. Remove checks for both.

This is weird too. When I am on this page in the forum and have File Explorer on, viewing file explorer with the ms edge web browser open behind it, the file explorer flashes around the edge. It doesn't do this on any other page in the forum. I tried around 6 other pages on the forum and file explorer didn't flash around the edges. It only does it on different pages on this thread.

From what I was able to gather on that... It's Windows account protection or Windows Controlled Folders signaling that Credential guard actively protected an authentication session.

This was already happening before... But it seems windows developers started to indicate that a sandboxed process used credential to access some resources.

To do the test open a cmd prompt and type your windows password in it, you'll see the flash exactly when you type the last letter.

It's there to warn that your password has been used and that Credential guard verified what was up with it.

Don't see it. I don't really care as it doesn't bother me but I AM curious.

Here is what I see on a right click on an empty area of the left pane. Win 11 Pro 25H2,

Yep... Confirmed you need new glasses.

Mayhaps I'm being dense but I don't get your last post. ;)

We both have 'Show Libraries' and 'Show all folders' unchecked. What does that indicate? I still see 'Home' and Galleries' in File Explorer... :dunno:

Hey, could it be an account access thing? I always log in as admin, not as a normal user...

I sent a request on this to a friend that was my second admin on my computer help forums before I shut the site down. He actually blows me away with like 14 Microsoft awards while I only have 5. While he is known for security and networking he MAY have insight.

Here is the response from my friend.

This link includes a download link for the reg files to remove Gallery from the navigation pane of File Explorer for current user and all users: https://www.elevenforum.com/t/add-or-remove-gallery-in-file-explorer-navigation-pane-in-windows-11.14178/ (and another to add it back).

They also have a page for the instructions and reg files for Home - https://www.elevenforum.com/t/add-or-remove-home-in-navigation-pane-of-file-explorer-in-windows-11.2449/
-------------------------

I have tried both registry scripts and both worked. I no longer see either "Home" or Galleries" in the left pane of File Explorer. It seems that I was right in that it now takes a registry change.

I have tested both and they are safe. Actually, my friend would not have sent me the links unless he had proven safe himself. Actually I had seen both links on searches but had not tried. In 25H2 they DO work. Just go to each link in my friend's post and download and then run the script.

I hope that this solves the issue. :)

It does not make it easier - why in bloody whatever does now take a registry change for such a simple option that USED to exist ?

I meant easier to get the downloads. ;)

Why remove the settings? Who knows. Mayhaps for the same reason the new Outlook doesn't have a send/receive button... :dunno:
