One of my best friends is on a vacantion again. And I'm taking care of his tarantuala named "Goofy". It's a young one and I'm used to spiders like these. I grew up with an uncle who kept them. And we were always allowed to get them out of their terrariums. And I've kept a number myself... My friend always takes him out and so I'm doing the same. He seems to be okay with me.
On the last photo he looks a bit shiny for there was too much condensation in his paludarium. For it's quite hot overhere.
I do say 'he" but I'm not sure about its sex.

I once waked up in the woods and saw an enormous spider on me...

I stared at it for a while in a "Mexican standoff" and it went on it's way...

Even today I'm glad it did...

What a beautiful spider. As a child my dad and I would go into the desert to look for things, we found many tarantulas, though the ones we found were boring black and brown. In all the times we handled them, I never felt like I was going to get bit. That said I am sure there are aggressive spiders, at least I have heard of them, but I have never encountered one.

Come to Australia, we have angry spiders, angry snakes, angry birds, and scary chocodiles.

I would love to come to Australia and would like to see the snakes and birds. FYI we have scary animals too. I have been charged by bears 3 times while doing forestry work, treed once by a female elk defending her calf, which I never saw. For some reason I don't find animals scary, other than people, I think I would fit in quite well at least with the critters.
