java fern and anubias are low tech plants which need little light and requirements but are sort of slow growing.
what i like about these ones are is that they don't like to be buried under gravel, they like to be tied to things like bog wood / rocks and get their food straight from the water.
in your tank that would look nice imo

to fix to bog wood etc just use a dark thread or fishing line and tie them where you want them to go.
can use elastic band for speed but these tend to be unsightly and can perish in the water over time

I'll second the java ferns and anubias. Red Jungle Vallisneria and Water Sprite are also a couple of good ones that can be planted in the substrate. The val gets very long though and has to be trimmed. Crested Java Ferns are also really nice.
