I have just moved my betta to a new tank, he did not play with others.

I have a skull that I am going to add as well as a couple of small plant plots/

This weekend I am going to get some more plants for the tank.

I dont know about other people but I find that my betta likes his tank to change on a regular basis.

ReMz-Your tanks look awesome! I enjoy having lots of driftwood as well but how do you keep your water clear? Mine always goes yellowish with the tannins. I don't mind but when I set up my new tank I want a clear water one.

Here's my tank...

I don't keep my water clear . I do weekly water changes, and by the end of the week, the tanks look "bronzish" under bright light. It gets better over time... but it's annoying. I do soak my drift wood in a bath tub with fully hot water once a day for 1 week prior to putting in my tank to get the major tannins out.

You can put carbon in your filters to absorb the tannins.... but it's only a temporary fix unless you feel like buying carbon every couple of weeks.

As far as I'm concerned, tannins are beneficial to fish; and if i need the tank to look top-notch, I can do a heavy water change.

I have black gravel in a tank.... I'm only somewhat impressed with it.... it really depends on the accents in the tank. I would post a picture if I could, but the tank is at my girlfriend's place

edit: I'll be able to snap a pic when I'm up their next weekend... or I could coerce her to take a picture herself if you are interseted.

I dont actually have a full pics of my cichlid tank but here is a section of it....its very heavyly planted and has a jungle theme...lots of clay caves and heaps of big plants.
