I've thinned down slightly and may possibly even part with a few more of current fish to a friend if I find I'm likely to be overstocked. Here is a list of all the fish which I would like to incorporate as and when I can find them, either wc or preferably F1's or 2's. I will be looking for fish of a reasonable size too. I'd like to know which ones I should definately steer clear of. I made lot's of notes on this before and now I can't find them.

Cynotilapia Afra cobue
Iodotropheus Sprengerae
Pseudotropheus Crabro
Labidochromis Mpanga
Pseudotropheus Demasoni
Ps Polit Lions Cove
Ps Saulosi
Ps Socolofi
Ps Kingsizei
Labidochromis Hongi Red Top
L Perlmutt

I don't necessarily want 'all' of them and where possible want to try to get groups of 1m 2f. So if there's any that are not recommended to get in a group please let me know. I need to go shopping

The demasoni should be kept in groups or as a single fish, I think. I know nothing about any of the others lol.

Well thanks for that jay  Surprisingly thats the only fish on the list that I thought I might need to have just one male of. :) Also is there another combination other than 'kept in groups' or 'as a single fish' cus I think you got it all just about covered in that comment. :)

Ooooo go me lol. I'll do a lucky dip to pick the other one for you Ps Socolofi.

Cheffi I`m sure you would love the Hongi and I`m certain they would fit in with your tank/fish and they are one of the more peaceful so I`d recommend those. My lone Demasoni is fast becoming of my favourites , the colours/markings are really bright I don`t think pictures do them justice it`s just the aggresion factor I`ve just come home and I can tell he`s been scrapping with my Mpanga because they`ve both got marks round their mouths  . Slight concerns although they seem fine now.
Saulosi seem to be very popluar with most people maybe those as an alternative to the Demasoni.

Thanks nick I do like the hongi and tbh wouldn't be that bothered not to have Demasoni. Maybe you're having a few probs cause you could do with a few more fish to spread the agression? Or, make sure the fish can see the tv. If my camera was charged up now I could get such a funny photo. Just about all of them are at the end of the tank watching the proms at the Albert Hall :) Peaceful as you like.

I don't see any problems with groups of the fish you have listed Cheffi, except of course the Demasoni - definately just the one of those.

I particularly like the Afra, even if its just to watch them square up to fish twice their size  , they are full of character and stay about the same size as Saulosi.

I think the crabros are stunning, and as long as you have a large enough tank, they would be great. From what I've read, they do best in either an all male tank (with one male crabro of course), or make sure you have at least 4 females, the more the better. I've been thinking of upgrading to a larger tank just to get some of these.

The only thing i can add is the crabo is a great fish but does get large and can be a bit nasty, A single demasoni as everyone else said, The ps polit is not a nasty fish but will start lots of fights and you will struggle to find them w/c about £40.0 each you could swap them for membe deep also rare but i know where to get them as f1 .

Here is a link to where i get my w/c and f1 i can only recommend this guy he imports them himself even has people working for him in malawi.

Hi cheffi sorry i havent been in touch been quite busy. Nice to see its all going well. With the demasoni the single fish wouldnt even have to be male they are so agressive i bet a lone female would be just fine. The fish you have listed there are beautifal and great additions to your tank i love Ps Saulosi and the Ps Socolofi the most. :good:

Thanks guys you're a mine of information between you. All info taken onboard and being researched as we speak. Am now thinking maybe you're right and will forget about wc and go for F1's.

Cheffi I wouldn`t bother with WC just yet , just make sure they are good specimens by comparing them to a decent photo even if it means viewing the fish a few times or buy from a reliable source or F1 like you say.
Like above just pay attention to the full adult size when thinking about choosing fish.
