Hi
Thinking of changing my tank to mbuna . My tank size is 30x12x18 is this to small . Like the yellow labs.
Any advice would be nice before I jump in and get it all wrong.

Thanks in advance

Hi i think it is too small for mbuna, i seem to remember reading they need 4 foot minimum, have you had a look at a tanganyika setup, much more interesting and are better suited to a smaller setup :good:

Sorry to p**s on your parade but yeah tank size a bit tight, sorry !!!
Ever thought about going down the Tanganyikan route :good:

Cheers, Sean

Hi
Thought as much .. are they as colourful ? ... will have to do a lot more reading lol.

Am confused now lol

Not as colourful but certainly behaviour is more interesting . . . :good:
My first tank was similiar size, 30"L x 12"W x 15"H , stocked it with
6 exLamprologus multifasciatus
1 exLamporologus caudopunctatus
1 Julidochromis dickfeldi
later added more if the dickfeldi, this tank did not work but you could have a nice shell dweller tank with a small rock pile at one corner with a small Julidochromis . There are a few ways to stock such a tank...

Also have a look at various Tanganikan cichlids, see what you like, google be thy friend :good:

Hope this sparks some interest, cheers, Sean :good:

I agree. Too small for Malawis.
But you could get some of the smaller Tangs. Really interesting fish.
