I bought a 10 gallon tank for some small fish, and I was planning to put it on top of my dresser, because it's a thick, sturdy wood, but I read never to do that. I've seen other people do it though, and they said they haven't had any problems. Should I risk it, or spend the money for a stand?

That should be fine - try standing on your dresser - if it is steady and feels safe to sit on you shouldn't have problems. 10 gallons aren't that heavy anyway.

Yah a 10 gallon tank weighs less than 90 pounds so it should be alright.

im thinking of buying a 5 gallon tank my dresser is 2 serlite 3 draw containers staked will it hold?

I kept a 25 gallon on a cheap Ikea dresser for years without a problem.

I keep my 20 gallon on a wooden dresser. It is very strong though.

You shouldn't have any problems.

My 5 gallon sits on a cheap Ikea stand but i wouldn't put anything heavier on there...

My 50 gallon has it's own stand though, built for aquariums that size.

for 10 gallon tanks, I wouldn't worry
