Tank Ornament!

I brought a large artificial mangrove root,the one on zooplus,my clowns love buzzing in and out of the root system,but ive noticed they seem to be striping paint off to reveal an orange ish undercoat,the root is made for aquariums so the paint stuff wont be toxic will it!,i dont know if i should take it out not, they arnt showing no discomfort but thought id post.

I would remove any ornament where the paint is able to flake off. You just don't know what is under the paint that might be able to leech into the water eventually. I guess you could try to contact the manufacturer, if you happen to know who it is.

Had a look at product description and it says "The roots are made of Polyrin, will not discolor, are completely non-toxic, and do not influence the water composition".

Have done google search to see if there are any adverse effects of this product noted anywhere but can't find anything saying not to use it in aquarium.

But if it's fairly new and the paint is coming off it might be worth your while ringing their customer service team and asking whether it could be a faulty product.

Thanks athena,ive emailed zooplus telling them,as u say is says non toxic polyrin,it just looks unsightly in places where they bite the paint.
