Tank Nightmare

how big are your waterchanges? considered using cold water instead of hot water? heavy metals sometimes build up in hot water. Seems strange that they would build up so fast though...

I do 30% waterchanges with cold water and the fish appreciate the cooling imo :good:

Ive been doing approx 25-30% weekly tho this week ive done 40 litre changes every day to no avail. The water going in is temp matched with therm to be roughly as close as I can get it.

I don't know, but sometimes hot water has heavy metals in (copper, iron etc)... maybe it would be worth doing temp changes with coldwater, atleast temporarily? i do 30% and its fine, infact my bolivian rams enjoyed it a bit too much

Thought id give a update with good/bad news

Bad News -

Rasborra still passing away about 1 every 48-60 hours Spoke to my fav LFS today (They were runners up for best LFS in scotland in PFK magazine) and asked them about the Rasborra I gave them all the tank stats and he said they were fine (they are) He asked where I got them and I told him the town before I could say another word he told me exactly who I had got them from and about there poor reputation in the trade  They said the Rasborra are most likely either poor quality stock or suffering some internal issues he thinks they will prob all pass on.

Good News

Corydoras and Diamond Tetras are growing nicely and really starting to get some impressive colouration the khuli loaches are also doing well so whatever the issue is with the Rasborra its limited to them alone.

I've moved the Betta to his own 40 L tank and medicated him for his sticky fins with Melafix and Aquarium Salts i'm pleased to report hes bouncing back well and his fins are returning to there former glory his appetitite and swimming remains unaffected thankfully.

I have some fish reserved at my good LFS which ill be picking up in a week as they were in quarentine when I popped in today 2 amazing looking Rams and my new top dwellers Golden Wonder Killifish I did have my heart set on Wrestling Halfbeaks but the Golden Wonders blow them out the water for me colour wise.

Glad to see things are picking up a bit now :good:

Poor stock and an immature tank is not a great combo so that makes sense, not good news but at least you know it's nothing you're doing wrong!

Glad your betta prefers his new tank and you've enjoyed your new better LFS.

I've learnt the hard way to be picky where I shop for fish too.
