Some of you might remember from earlier this year that I was in the process of installing and setting up (FISHLESS CYCLIN WHICH TOOK 6 MONTHS!!!) a tank into my living room wall.

Well its done, just bits and bobs left to finish off.... lighting, ornaments etc

PIX..... (let me know what you all think)

NOTE : The air stone got disconnected as i was doing some work on the tank this morning, that why the air stone pipe is floating at the top of tank, I will get it sorted shortly

I currently have 3 widow tetra's (1 pink and 2 blue) which have been happily living in the tank since i'd say march time.

I did have tetra's (very small when i bought them) and a few betta's but they all died :-(

I currently have blue moon lightin at the top of the tank, but its just a bit blue for me, so i have ordered plain white.

My question is.... what fish would you suggest i add?

What other idea's would you suggest for me to install in the tank?

With a tank 5" deep you haven't really got alot of choice even though the tank is 100l!

I would stick to a schoal of very small fish, perhaps neons.

You dont really want any fish that get over 1" but that leaves you with no choice really. You also dont want fast fish as they have no depth to swim in.

It looks really nice but unfortunately those wall tanks just aren't suitable for most and some would argue any fish

Good luck anyway

Vicki

Ta Vicki... i was tinkin about getting 6 or so Neon Cardinals? Last time i put neon tetra's in they all ended up dying 1 by 1... they were very tiny though.

Oh and i knew that i would be limited to which fish i could keep when i decided to set the tank up.... im hoping to get another 'normal' tank soon, so i can experiment with other fish.

"Ideally" as it's a new tank you want to stay away from tetra's like neons etc. However I've had a hectic day and not much chance to think lol.

I'll have a think about some fish later on for you or if you post which fish you like then we can all say whether or not they are a good idea.

The betta's probably died because they were too big, I'd imagine about 2.5"?

Vicki

All I know is, with a room that size, my tank choices would be unlimited LOL.

Good job though, looks nice :)

Hmm not sure about your questions, steve_b21..

but that is some god damn sofa you have there...its huge, lol!....the tank ain't to bad aswell :D :good:

I have no suggestions for fish...but I just wanted to say that your tank looks awesome! I hope to do something like that when I get a place of my own. Nice work

what about some harliquin rasboras

Just had a quick look up on them, they seem pretty nice....

Thank you. :good:

The 'hole' in the wall was already there when i bought the house, and after about 3 years i decided to do something with it. Tank cost me £200 delivered, and adding other bits and bobs the the whole setup has cost me well under £300 which aint too bad i think :)

That room looks stunning, Im so jealous. Is the 5 inch depth the width of the tank i.e. how far back it goes into the wall? The true depth would then be what you have called the height? Or have I caused more confusion?

Thank you, yes you have confused me a little lol.

Tank goes back jus a touch over 5" into the wall. Its 47" across... and it goes 32" high, and 28" high around the sides and front. I really should have gone a bit lower than 28" as its a pain to get my hand in lol

I love the tank, it doesn't look awfully practical though!

I think u mean un practical? .... im soon to get some fake plants i can throw in, and as soon as the white lighting is done, i will get some black cloth to drop down a little from the top to cover the opening, so this will hide all the lighting wires etc.

Cleanin wise, as it has no plants, it creates no algie, the glass is near enough crystal clear as it was at first. I have a syphon that leads out to the garden when i do a water change (50%) every 2 weeks or so. Again this also is used for when topping the water back up. 50% water change takes me about 15 mins or so :)

Amazing tank! I'm afraid my first thought was how do you get into it to clean it... but you seem to have that under control.
A suggestion for small fish: our local shop had some spotted rasboras today - gorgeous tiny little fish. My book says they grow to about an inch and even suggests keeping them with harlequins. Don't know how fussy they are about water though.

just because you have no plants doesnt mean you'll get no algae

how do you feed them out of interest?

edit: oh nevermind i looked at the pictures properly
