Tanganyika Tank

Fabulous pics doresy!

AdAndrews I understand your decision and look forward to seeing what you come up with for this tank. Don't worry, one of these days you'll get the tang tank you want, can't keep a cichlid keeper down for long. :good:

lol ok, could be quite a few years yet, but if/when i will do it, i will do it big style, like 8ft tank, frontosa's, etc

in our house atm its physically impossible to fit a bigger tank in, im not saying the house is small, but where there are spaces, the sun shines, or its an un-used room, or its in a stupid place

:good:

how big do they get
and whats min tank size coz my mum really liked them

They reach around 3". Pseudotropheus demasoni are one of the mbuna species (rock-dwelling) from Lake Malawi. They should be kept with other mbuna, though they will sometimes work as a single specimen with semi-aggressive Lake Tanganikya species. Typically mbuna should be kept in a ratio of 1 male to 3 or more females, however, p.demasoni have such high conspecific aggression (aggression towards their own kind) that they should be kept in groups of 12 or more, or as a single specimen. :good:

Edit: forgot to add tank size. If kept with other mbuna, a 4-ft is mimium. If kept as a species tank or as a single specimen (with appropriate tank mates) a 3-ft would work.

dthoffsett is right on the money :good:

This impostor was an inherited (saved) specimen which was place in the Tang' tank and it seems to have worked out quite well. It goes about it's business throughout the mid to top-tank area which the rest don't bother with unless feeding. Sometimes he will get a chase on but only for a second which is pretty normal. He is a little character (bit like a cichlid version of a Betta  )
