Tail Color In Different Lights.

Just a paranoid new betta owner post again. 

 
Anyhow... I keep having a panic about the edges of Jimmy's tail... but... I am pretty such it is just the different lightings.  Sometimes... it just looks like a black thin edge, but then he turns or moves and it looks blue... that is normal right?  I keep panicking that maybe there is some early tail rot... I even went and took 6 pictures to post here but each one is the perfect blue with no hint of what I keep thinking I'm seeing... D'Oh!
 
Anyhow... water quality is good (have been checked the ammonia only twice since I got him Friday) and he never ever stresses and is active and the whole etc etc.  I've just been watching him for signs of disease since he came from the tiny pet shop tank and after the stressful journey home.

Here are two of my pictures.  They look perfect to me... but sometimes at certain angles the edges look black or transparent.... but the picture looks perfect....

Just because a betta's fins might have black edges does not mean fin rot.  Some bettas have a black edge to their fin naturally.  Fin rot will make the fins "melt" and look really bad.  Clear edges to the fins are regrowth from damage of some kind that hasn't gained color back -- another thing that shouldn't make you worried.  Bettas are hard to pinpoint true colors most of the time because of their iridescence so you will normally see different colors in different lighting.    Don't worry about asking any question.  There is not stupid question.

That makes sense... and explains why he looks completely different in pictures too!  He looks royal blue with a purple shimmer except in a certain light where he looks navy with that black edge.
