T5 Problems !

Hi all ,
Ive just had my t5 planta bulbs delivered which are both 39w each and ive got a double t5 started rated at 2 x 24 / 2 x 39 , but the problem that i have got is that when i turn the unit on both bulbs flash as if to initiate the start of the bulbs but then thats it . Do you think that the starter is faulty ??? ive left the bulbs for a few minutes , to see if they need to warm up , but stilll no joy . Any help on the matter would be very much welcomed . O one other thing is is that ive tried to take the starter apart , but it just isnt having it . cant get that centre section apart at all .

T5 are usually instant start, are you tubes located properly, check the contacts sometimes with old fittings you get a bit of oxidation on the contacts or depending on what type of fitting you have the plastic can become misshaped and carse problem when locating the tube.

If not i would of say your started is buggered or knackered tubes (but i would of thought you could rule that one out with your new tubes)

How long have you had the unit can you not send it back.

Thanks for the reply the contacts seem to be ok they are brass ones , but i got it off ebay but iam waiting on a reply about returning it .. i was so gutted when i tried to start them but then nothing . Its been hard enough trying to get bulbs for the starter . I think its a case of a new starter then .
