Syno Id Anyone?

This chap has just arrived in a bucket. I need to id what he is so I can sort out where to put him

Hoplosternum? Definitely an armored catfish just dunno what exactly lol

That's a tough one. I'm guessing it's a featherfin squeaker (S. eupterus). If it flairs the dorsal you could really tell.

I have been googling like mad since it arrived, I am 98% sure its the S. eupterus after someone pointed me in the right direction. I just need to find out if the white tips on the dorsal and pectoral fins are normal, but it looks like the skin is missing.

Does it actually look like the spines are showing? I don't think that's how they are supposed to look, I've not seen that before.

The skin is missing, looks like its been scraped a bit while he was being caught, it should heal over ok with some clean water.
