A forum member was getting rid of some fish for free and he kindly let me take quite a few off of his hands (8 harlequin rasboras (1 died on the journey home) , 3 congo tetras , 1 peppered cory , 1 habrosus cory , one WCM and 2 swordtails .
The swordtails - one is a lyretail and the other is a normal one , they are in with my HB limias and WC minnows but they have started attacking the other fish .
Is this common amoung swordtails cos if it is i will need to rehome them before my brigitte rasboras come , it would be such a shame as they are lovely fish :(

any advice welcome

Thanks Sarah xxx

if you have multiple males they can get aggresive. i suggest you separate one of them to another tank

Hi hun

they cant go in another tank cos i've got to sell the rekord 60 as reallly havent got the space and they cant go in with the platys cos they'll hybridise,
:-( EDIT : THEY ARE BOTH MALE

Thanks for replying

For the most part, all Platies in the aquarium trade have been hybridized at some point.

I know that i just dont want to add to it i want to breed my "platys" with platys lol

So i think the swords will be going unless i can convince hubby that we have to keep the rekord 60 --- dont think we will though cos not got the room

I find that swords average a bit more aggressive than a platy but not so much that they don't make a good community tank member.

I replied wrongly on their sex they are both males so i will need to rehome them cos i havent got the room to buy a female swordtail to go with them :( not with the current plans for the tank
