Sw To Fw Filter

Hey,

Is it safe for me to use a filter in my FW tank if it has been used in a marine tank previously?

i have done it before - its just best to soak the media in water for about a week - changing the water every day . also if there is any coraline algea from the sw tank try 2 remove itif u can and give the filter a good rinse

You will want to soak it and preferably soak it for a tiny while in some bleech. But before I recommend that what filter is it?

why would you want/need to use bleach to convert a filter from sw to fw??

use give it a good clean in clean hot water and your are good to go, and sw pathogens would not survive in fw anyway, hence a fw dip being used to treat sw fish

i would use new media tho' as any bacteria would be useless anyway
