Surprise Fish Related Presents

My man-wife got me an external heater for my birthday, which is fab, and I was really pleased with it.... but then yesterday I was doing all my online banking, receipts, statements, making sure everything tallied up, etc, and noticed the price he paid for it...

I wish he'd told me cuz I could've gotten it about £8 cheaper than what he paid for it!

Do you ever wish someone had left the purchasing to you so you could get the best deal, even if it meant it wasn't a surprise?

Yeah I have to agree, unless they are into the hobby too and so know how to get good prices.

or unless you tell them exactly what you want i like surprises but id prefer to have something useful which i wanted instead of something which in not quite right? e.g light tubing wrong spectrum.

After the whole male betta surprised I kindly asked my girlfriend not to surprise me with anymore fish/fish related gifts and that although I was greatful, it could have been real issues.

Correct. Although I did actually want them, had a tank for them and was here when she got home. I fear if I wasn't here when she brought them home they would have ended up as oscar food.

Definately. My ex bought me two fish for a birthday... you think you had it bad with fighters and sevs...

He bought me a very Juvi Pearl Arrowana and a TINY Red Tail Catfish...

That was about 1.5 years ago now, the RTC met an unfortunate end involving the use of black pond hose to siphon the tank (from the middle!) and me not notice him swim right up the pipe I felt awful, even if i didnt know what the heck i was going to do with him... i had an 8x3x2 so the worry hadnt set in too much...

The Arro is now about 1.5ft long now and thriving, mean #17##### fish that one!

In all fairness, i had lost my baby silver arro at work called Mr Bigglesworth but i was never planning to take him home!!!

Oh god... then the stingrays... what posessed him to buy me a baby stingray that i couldnt house after a year!

To be fair, its things like that which are the reason he is an 'Ex' now and he had been keeping fish for many many years longr than me and still is >.<
