Quick one today, my friends:

Can anyone recommend me a sump-maker (or tank maker, I guess) to create my lovely new design? The more local the better - so in order of preference for location Earlsfield (home), Brentford (work), SW London, Central London, rest of London, within M25, SE England, etc.

Still haven't decided on material - either glass or acrylic fine by me, any thoughts on this choice more than welcome!

Ta,

Paul

just buy a normal tank that fits underneath the main display tank. then use that. Or buy a reasonable quality plastic storage crate and use that.

That was my original hope - but the max standard width tank I could get in would be 15" (38.1cm, exactly what I'm looking at width-wise) which only comes (I think) in 12" high and 12" front to back (I'm looking at Clearseal tanks here) - all of which means my safety volume would be too small - I need height!!!

Thanks anyway Colin, any way I can keep costs down would be great :)

just ask your LFS to make you one to suit, or build your own. It's pretty easy to build a small tank. Buy the glass and glue it together will glass silicon. Leave it for a week to dry then set it up :)
Tanks up to 18inches high can be made in 6mm glass. Tanks that are 2ft high are generally made of 10mm glass.

that's just a ridiculous price unless you're after something enormous

cheapest way as mentioned is to buy a cheap tank, some acrylic sheets and silicon

Why will that make the "safety volume" too small? How large is the display tank?

I have used a sump that is 14x12x12 without major issues.
