Suggestions on Foggy Tank

Well it's not great but not that bad now you have got the goldfish out of there.

I'm trying my best with this tank...its my first tank and its only been running for a little over 3 months.

I'd see if you can return some fish to a fish store, especially the CAE. When it matures it will be the only thing left in your tank  The guppies and platies are fine in a 10, the cories aren't ideal, but they should be ok. I'd try to get rid of the gouramis and the CAE.

Have you asked your fish stores? A lot will take fish in

I agree with Sorrell : FOR SURE , lose the CAE they do get mean as they grow , and they will grow :flex: , those tricogaster trichopterus can eventually reach 6" , I'm not sure how big your other gourami will get . By the way , do the gouramis fight ?

Most of us know how hard it is to resist putting as many fish as we can in an aquarium ,and over crowding it , and are also guilty of doing it , but it will almost always lead to death , be it incompatability , simply not enough room , or other reasons .

By the way you're taking this pretty well , most people get upset and become defensive , cooler heads prevail  ,

Do you have any books on basic fish keeping ? You should , and come here and ask as many questions as you can or need to , as you can see many people have many things to add , though sometimes you may wait longer then others for a good amount of replies .

So maybe keep the gups , platies and the cories , give the other fish away if you have to , things should improve , don't lose hope or interest here .

Good luck .

Also cloudy water can be a bacterial bloom , aside from other points mentioned .

i would suggest a quick water change and washing the filter sponge in the old tank water. Cease feeding for the day and leave the tank overnight. Goodluck :D

I don't think you are overstocked at all, not with the goldfish removed, and keeping in mind the CAE is not appropriate for that tank as mentioned.

I would cease feeding for a couple of days, keep the lights off too. If the filter is clogged I'd clean it, but otherwise I'd leave it alone. In my experience whispers really suck too.

The thicklip always chases the opaline around but thats about it...no signs of stress or anything...its like the opaline just plays catch. I've made sure to observe them everyday for any bad signs.

I am here to learn everything I can about making my fish happy and keeping them healthy. I know everyone is trying to help so why get defensive?

I will do a water change this evening when I get home and rinse the filter in the old water. I want to stop feeding for a few days but I worry about the fish. I wouldnt be able to sleep knowing I didnt feed them. Will they be ok? Especially the bottom feeders...I always worry they're not getting any food or enough food. :dunno:
