I have a 200 litre heavily planted tank (simple plants Vallis, E Tenellus carpet, Anubias) with an inert substrate mixed with JBL Florapol. Undergravel heater, 2.3Watts per gallon lighting and 30ppm CO2 from DIY CO2. KH=13 ph=7.1

There is some green spot and hair algae which is a bit of a problem, but it's not gone mad as yet and I've bought some Ancistrus / Whiptails to try to help a bit.... plant growth is good and they are pearling

What fertilisers / additives do I need to add to the water and when ? I'm not planning on entering any shows, I just want a healthy natural looking biotype tank with happy fish for my pleasure and visitors pleasure.

and...

I don't want to spend too much time with test kits etc.. and EI sounds like a lot of work ...

I'm thinking along the lines of starting to dose with JBL Ferropol after it's been runing about 6 weeks, to top up trace elements and iron. Local water is hard, so water changes should help to some extent (just planning 25% every 2 weeks).

Anyone have any suggestions or am I after the impossible ?

Thanks

Karl.

I think the only way to achieve what you want is to reduce your lighting under 2 WPG that way you would be able to not use the co2 and be able to fertilise a lot less, but you would have to compensate by useing the appropriate plants for the amount of light, trying to grow highlight plants would not work so well, if you want to run the light at 2.3 WPG you will have to have a stable rate of co2 @30ppm and dose fertiliser regularily, i think the biggest challange for you given the size of tank you have is achieveing the required amount of co2 with a DIY setup.
