About a month ago I came home to find my Betta stuck to the filter. Thought she was dead but swam off when I unplugged it. It damaged her tail. I switched to a small fry filter, changed water, and added conditioner with aloe and tea tree oil. It hasn't gotten better. Her tail is now a hump and white. Any suggestions as to what to treat her with ? Should I use an anti-bacterial ? thank you.

I recomend melafix. it may be pricier than some but i used it on my female betta and she started to heal within about four days. make sure the water if really clean too.

not sure if its called melafix int the usa. if it doesn't ring a bell, search the net for a different name. it made by aquarium pharmaceuticals.

melafix is sold in the us and the active ingredient is tea tree oil (what the OP had used). with past fin issues, ive just kept really clean water and it healed on its own. your fish's tail looks whitish tho so id expect something else may be amiss. someone will come along with more info on how to treat it, im sure.

My betta had something very similiar over the festive period.

I think the best thing to do is make sure the water is clean. I isolated him and did a water change every day.

I also used myxazin and interpet anti bacterial meds.

I also found that he responded well when the temperature was kept at 28c.

Thanks everyone. She is in a 3 gallon tank by herself with a heater kept at 78F.

I added 1 ml of Melafix. It says to dose daily for 7 days, then do a 25% water change. That sounds like too much medication. Should I dose maybe 3 days, then a large water change ?
