Substrate Ferts

hi, regarding substrate fertilisers (stuff that goes under the gravel/sand) does it need to be washed before it goes in?

Probably depends on what kind. I use root tabs, and I just pop them out of the blister packs and start shoving them into the gravel.

no, this is JBL aquabasis. its like gravel but its fertilising stuff, you then cap it with the gravel or sand. its basically a substrate not tablets but i was wondering if you wash it do you remove some of the ferts. i think aaronnorth uses it so he might know when he comes on.

I wouldn't have thought so? what does it say on the pack

it says, put a layer of it in with a few cms of gravel over the top. (so i wanted to be sure) i dont want mega cloudy water as fish have to go in straight away, i cannot leave it a couple of days.
