Does anybody get their betta a christmas present?

If they do, any good ideas what to give them?

Last year after reading this forum I got him a packet of table tennis balls. Sadly since they were not editable he was not interested in them.

aww what a sweet thought :)

why not get a coconut and mke cave for your fish.. no he/she cant eat it but im sure it will be much appreciated :)
and anyway i suspect the weather will be lousy tommorow ,it`ll give you something to do

merry christmas to you and your betta/s :)
shelagh xxx

More plants so he can hide. Actually the plants are for my ten gallon, but I bought so much I'll definitely have extra.

Shelagh you gave me an idea now :good: Thanks And  my fish get Bloodworms for chrismas dinner? if that counts

Start up a culture of microworms...or if you can really be bothered you could try slightly trikier life foods like daphnia. Bit late now but it's an idea for the future.

Sorry to need to tell you this Knox, brine shrimp are very real. They are properly called artemia but the hobby has called them brine shrimp for quite some time. The artemia cysts, they really are not eggs, can be bought in small or large containers and the newborn artemia are a very good early food for fry. I am sure an adult betta would love a few adult artemia as a snack but it takes a lot of very small food to raise artemia in a home environment. I don't know if the frozen kind are farmed or just harvested and frozen from the places where they naturally occur. The fact that innovative folks sold very small quantities of artemia cysts as sea monkeys for big money is no more strange than pet rocks or any number of other overpriced fad things that are sold for children.

I Still dont get how the egg's are'nt real butthe food is :S!
So basicly brime shrimp may be sold as "Sea Monkeys?" for a quick few bucks?

Also That looks nice. :good: he's one lucky chump.

The things sold as sea monkeys years ago were in fact brine shrimp cysts. They packaged them up with a bit of food and a tiny plastic container and lots of pictures of cartoon fish. It was a way to sell $1 of brine shrimp cysts for $5 to $10. I have no idea if they are still using that gimmick today since I have no kids at home to see the ads and such. When I was a youngster, over 50 years ago, they were selling them with ads in the back of comic books. Some things never seem to change. I buy cysts in larger containers and far better quality because I use the BBS as fry food.

I had sea monkeys as a kid  thats an idea for my 5.5 L tank lol do they breed then I can feed my fish them lol
