Stunning Amazon Biotope.....

must be a huge tank, with enough above water space for the snake... wonder how they deal with the snakes bio load???

Hmmm I didn't think about the snake poop. Snakes are really messy too. But being cold blooded they only need to be fed once a month or so. I don't think the Anaconda leaves the water at all, they are pretty aquatic. But think about feeding the Anaconda a rat in the aquarium.

I love this tank, but things have been bothering me... is it AI???

was the tank set up for just a one day show???

the snake bio load, I already mentioned, but also I would suspect all the tetras would disappear at night, at 1st lights out

the large wood pieces are still covered in bark... the bark doesn't seem to last long on times I've tried similar, I doubt it could be a "regular" aquarium

The first way to put most people off watching a movie is to have 2 rather large bottomed snakes on the start.

(Language, Colin 🧐 love, mods)

What if they were two large small bottomed snakes ?

This tank is from an old biotope aquarium contest. I've found a couple cool sites. I'll share them both but here's a link to the first one. Some are really awesome and inspiring.

All you'd have to do is drop the snake in for the video and take it out before it poops. I know I don't leave the Capybaras in with the tetras or the forest elephants in with the killies. They roam the house otherwise, he said, in the curated world of the internet.

When we'd riverbank fish for small stuff, we'd have root tangles like those tanks. You would jam the net in a pull up quickly, hoping to find killies, Cichlids, Anabantoids, tetras or small catcfish in among the leaves and small spiders.
Man, we caught a lot of spiders, of many different species. They liked the roots going into the water just above the surface, and are probably a big food source for our small fish.
We get excited about predators on fish, but a true biotope tank should have nest after nest of spiders in the space just above the water below the rim. Yeah, they'd throw me out of most biotope tank contests...

No, thay is the only video with snakes. I will note there are no tarantulas in these biotope tanks. Tarantulas float. Ohhh but what about a tank withba fishing spider?
Fishing spider, pfft. I live in Australia. We have redback, funnel web, white tail and bird eating spiders here. Our biggest spider gets to the size of a dinner plate. If our most dangerous spider (Sydney funnel web) bites you and you don't get immediate help, your dead in 10 minutes. I don't fear spiders coz I'm an Ozzie and we wear thongs (flip lops for the yanks) and thongs are Australia's most specialised spider killing devices ever made. :)

Yeah I know everything in Australia wants to kill you. I would still love to visit and go to Kakadu to find some goannas.
Aside from that it would be cool to have a fishing spider in an aquarium and watch it underwater with it's little bubble of air.

Here is the newer Biotope Aquarium site. This one is current and the 2025 contest is underway. Some brilliant scapes here.
