Hi everyone! New member from the UK 🇬🇧

Hi all, I'm Simon (Sibro), from the North East of England.

I've been keeping tropical fish for several years now and currently have a well-established, planted 120cm community aquarium that's been running for around four years.

My setup includes an Oase external canister filter, integrated heating and a Fluval Aquasky 3.0 lighting system.

My current residents include:

  • Cardinal Tetras
  • Harlequin Rasboras
  • Two Angelfish (Pearl and Kermit)
  • A Red-Tailed Black Shark
  • Corydoras, including Pandas
  • A rather large female Bristlenose Pleco
Plant-wise, I've got a mixture of Anubias, Vallisneria, Limnophila sessiliflora and an Amazon Sword that's recently decided to start growing again after a very long rest!

I'm always looking to improve the aquarium, particularly when it comes to plant growth, lighting, water circulation and keeping the fish healthy and happy.

My latest addition is a young Green Pinoy Angelfish called Kermit, who's currently giving me a few concerns with some unusual white spots (not ich but could be epistylis). I'm hoping the collective experience here might help me get to the bottom of that.

I enjoy watching the natural behaviour of the fish just as much as the aquascaping side of the hobby. There's always something new to learn, even after several years!

Looking forward to getting involved, sharing some photographs and learning from everyone.

Cheers, Simon (Sibro)

Nice to have you joined... :yahoo:
So, welcome...! :hi:

Welcome to a great forum from another Brit. Really nice aquarium you have. 😁

If the spots are on the actual rays of the fin, rather than on the soft tissue - I have had farmed angels that developed cysts or scar tissue from injuries during their crowded youth. They don't develop, spread, or vanish.

The spots are unevenly shaped, raised and on his flanks. He is a happy little angelfish otherwise, eats enthusiastically and swims about happily. I treated for ich a couple of weeks ago but to no avail. The spots are not typical salt grain shapes anyway. Hoping he will just fight off/out grow whatever this is.

If I can get a shot with him in focus i'll post it here.
