Friendly Hallo from Southwest Germany

Nice Nickname 🤗 it's a friendly place here and your stunning tanks should be more than welcome here 💪👍

I get a basic grasp of what that says. I find German to be very similar to English ;) Even though it was the only subject I failed at school.

Uh . . . . Okay . . . @emeraldking . Can you translate ?
@Gertrudae has already mentioned what was meant by that...
Well, I do live close to the German border. Just a 15 minute car drive from the border. And we have lots of German people who cross the border on a daily base. And when we didn't had the commercial tv channels until late 1980's, we only were able to receive Dutch, Belgian, British and German public channels. So, the English and German languages were something we grew up with just by watching tv and the Germans who visited our country. And I also have to mention that the slang we use in our part of the country, sounds a bit similar to the German language. A lot of Germans and those Dutch people who live close to the border at our region do understand another.

I love Dutch language for words like Knalpot what is a very onomatopoeic word for a car muffler. On top Dutch people are more polite and relaxed most of the time compared to Germans. Many Dutch Showmaster like Rudi Carell, Linda de Mol or Mareike Amado went famous in German Television in the past.
Even the Germans like Dutch People more then themselves 🤣🤣🤣 (except according football/soccer!)

Even Chantal Jansen has tried to become tv host in Germany. Well, it depens on which region in Holland you mean where they're more polite. In the eastern and southern part of our country, the people are more polite than those in the western and nortern part.
We've even lend some words out of the German language (same thing with the English language) which are normal in our Dutch language. Some words are: Fingertspitzengefühl, über, überhaupt, unsw...
