I Know!

This is so hard to think about!

Oscars are Great!

But cichlids look ALOT Nicer!

:/

Hard choose for my future 75 gallon ( i only plan on keepng 1 oscar in it and a pleco )

help me out people :(

Cichlids covers quite a large spectrum of fish....do you have any in particular in mind?

Personally I am not a huge oscar fan so if it were me I would go for smaller cichlids and plan around them. Personally I would go for oscars in a larger tank where I could safely mix them with others (though I would more likley get a severum or a chocolate before the oscar).

I think that it is down to personal preference, if you want a wet pet go for the oscar but if you want to get a variety of fish go for smaller cichlids.

Hey Wills.

Just checked on this topic...
I Was thinking german Rams.. Angels... And a Yellow Cichlid ( I Forgot its name :/ ) Possibly a few others?? I Would'nt have a clue sicne i've only Done abit of research on Oscars... But if i go for the Smaller cichlid theme i'll have to buckle my head dwon and research on central american ( as i know south african and central americans dont mix well )

Oscars are Cichlids :D

That's what I was going to say.

What kind of tank do you want? Peaceful with fish of all sizes? Maybe you want a school with a few semi Aggressive Cichlids? Do you want plants?

What do you want? Then we can help you figure out what kind of cichlid fits your needs.

Personally I am not a big fan of Oscars. But that's just me. I know they are fun and all but I like to keep more then one fish and watch them interact with each-other.

Oscars are wonderful fish to keep but also messy. What filtration do you have/are you planning as this could help decide.

Some realy powerful one if im having a oscar :p as i know they are very messy indeed.

I Dont know what type either ( i'll find a useful one some-where though )

And around 75 gallon for a oscar and same for smaller cichlids...

At least 10x turn over is ideal for an Oscar. You can get away with less with bigger water changes but not much.

As for if you go with other cichlids, what is your water like from the tap? Hard or Soft and is it acidic or alkaline? This could guide your choices too.

Hard.

And i know oscar's are hardy fish and could adapt to hard water very fast.
