just feed the fish in the tank, i would put the food in then turn lights off couple mins later then he should come out for food if hungry.
depends what you feed them to how fast they go, mine is about 6" maybe bit more but grew quick when i was feeding muscles and krill and river shrimp but once he obtained this size he slowed down but eats truck loads
Julia1904,I am presuming a striped rafael is what I have commonly known as Talking Cat/dora due to the croaking noises when out of water.Mine is twenty two years old now seven inches long lives under a immitation rock hide see him once or twice a week if lucky and lives on catfish pellets (small ones)and potatoe peeling occassionly. I have also got a spotted dora about eight or so years old and about three inches long.
I presume they come out at night to see whats about to eat thats proberly why most of my small fish like silver hatchets, neons etc dissapered.

I never see mine. I have the spotted one also... never see him either! lol!
They were the same size when i added the stripey, but the spotted one is bigger now. They can often eat that much that they become bloated so would probably not need to eat for a length of time afterwards.
I've got a spotted and a stripy also; 'Six' (long story on how he got his name, lol) and 'Spot' We sometimes see Six but very, very rarely see Spot. They certainly do seem to be 'gorgers'; I only feed mine a couple of times a week now.
Mine were rescues ("if you don't take them, they're going down the toilet" ) and while both were about 2 inches when I got them 12 years ago, Six has grown massively and is full size at 6 or 7", Spot has hardly grown at all, poor little chap. I can only assume he must have been stunted before I got him
Very rarely see the spotted in LFS, infact i have never seen one. Ours came with our first tank and the original owner said he got him from pets at home. Often see the stripeys, they are usually huge though, which, at the time seemed like a good idea but we decided against it and went for a smaller one. Spotted is 4" and the stripey is probably 3-3.5"
