I'm new to both this site and fish owning. I bought a male delta tailed betta about a week ago. He is in his own heated, filtered, lightly planted 5 gallon tank.
I've noticed that he is almost constantly 'pacing' the front of the tank, turning suddenly, almost like he's looking for a way out. I had the water tested today, and all parameters, including ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate look normal. He is still eating. His fins are neither flared nor clamped. No signs of ich, though his body is white. He stays almost exclusively at the top part of the tank, but doesn't seem to be constantly gasping at the surface. I thought he might be attacking his reflection but his gills aren't flared and any changes in lighting other than complete darkness do nothing. Is he stressed or is this ok? Picture attached is one of him taken today

With all due respect that means nothing, Some peoples idea of normal is anything but. I have seen where PetXXXX employees have said water was fine where the reading for ammonia was .5 or higher.

Thats called glass surfing, It could be because you just got him, It could be because the tank is too bright, Normally it can take a few weeks for a new betta to settle in.
