in my guppy tank i have one female that is twice as big as all of my other fish, and the same thing happened in my platy tank? does any one have an explanation.

You could just have small other fish. But it is possible that they are hybrids.

I have 2 female platies that are enormous compared to the others - neither have ever had any fry. I think geneticly something isn't quite right and the males know it. They never even try to breed with either of them.

i have 3 platys given to me from a batch of 8 a friend bought, mine have somehow grown 3 times the size of his, reaching maybes 6cm the bigger females...
His feeding regium is more regular and ultimately more volume than mine... so it is not that. Mine do breed however do also enjoy consuming them. But their is no obvious explanation as they are from the same shop, tank and so assumingly batch. Our water parameters are the same... just one of them things that happens is my guess?

Probably a gene that makes them turn into giants.
