Storing Food Long Term

i bought a big bag of flake food cuz it was on sale. i filled up the jar that i feed them with, and i'm just left with a 3/4 full re-sealable bag. should i refigerate or freeze it? or just put it on a shelf?

Depends on how fast you think you will go through it. If you dont think it will be before the expration date youll probaly want to freeze it. Not sure if it would help but thats what you would do with people food.

I freeze any excess that I won't feed in the next month or two. An opened container at room temperature will lose nutrient value quickly so resealing well and freezing is essential. I also buy large quantities of foods over the internet but just set aside what I will use quickly of each kind and freeze the rest for later. If I am refilling the feeding containers monthly. I figure I have my quantities about right.
