Stones For My Fishtank - Where From?

Thought about going to some coast somewhere and having a look, as one rock from the local fish place is like £30 and I would need a few!

I do understand there is a by-law that makes it illegal to take stuff from streams etc, anyone know the facts?

Is there, oop's i took around 40 large pebble's from the beach, washed/boiled/scrubbed and used them,,,,

if you do "borrow" some, put a drop of vinegar on, if it fizzes its bad, if it doesn't its safe to put it

oh yes i plan to return mine, same spot as i found them, when ive finished with them
