Stocking Suggestions?

so im planning on getting either a 20g long or 29g and getting either a pair of kribs or a pair of german blue rams. id like to keep some cool schooling fish or something to go in there with them.
what are your guys suggestions on other tankmates. ive never had rams and havent kept kribs in a very long time. i was thinking it be cool to make it a south american or african biotype. thanks!!

I would recommend..
* pair of kribs
* 10-15 serpae tetras
* 1 small (under 4" adult) bristlenose

I normally prefer biotopes too, but those tanks would be too small for an African biotope (which I would hope to have a 40+"*18"*18"), while the rams are not generally fish I recommend to most people.

So, looking at krib origins, some aquarium sized species (you would still have to check for compatibility) are..
Nannocharax fasciatus
Anaspidoglanis akiri
Alestopetersius smykalai
Rhabdalestes septentrionalis
Gobiocichla wonderi
..and these are just from the same area, they may not necessarily live in the same rivers.

On the other hand, the tanks you suggest are perfect sizes for blue rams.. and as long as you're happy with trying rams, who are known to be fragile, there are actually a lot of fish which go nicely with them.

yeah for the rams i was thinking maybe some livebearers and a cool kind of tetra

Livebearers are actually from quite a different biotope to rams: rams are from soft, acidic rivers, while most livebearers are from neutral to hard water pools. A school of 10-15 small tetras would go very well with a pair of rams

You could possibly do a small African theme...

1 or 2 African Butterfly Fish (as long as each can have ~30cm square of surface water)
1 Leopard Bushfish or possibly an 8+ group of "Debauwi Catfish"
6 Upside Down Catfish
Pair of Kribs

Something else to consider is that Kribs can live in brackish conditions, something I was unaware of until Neale Monks mentioned it in a post last year, but I've no idea what brakish fish might work with them.
