what i'm attempting to get at is some like A.Nijsseni need a low GH (<6), where A.Agazzii will handle higher numbers (<12)
However research is needed as i am not an expert. (in this, or much else, really)

CaCO3 is main reading you need to look for.

Calcium Carbonate.

Im with Thames water, i have a CaCO3 reading of 267.

Soft <100 parts per million
Medium 100 - 200 parts per million
Hard >200 parts per million

Thus i have hard water and i've basically scrubbed the idea of having Apisto's...for now.

Although i know i can soften the water, i cant be bothered to get into all that.

UPDATE:
Well i had a shift around sold my river reef 94 and cycled the rio 180
I re-homed my 4 emperor tetras to coldcazzie
and my cardinals to dh058977

so my stock list is now:

12 harlequins
8 rummy nose tetras
6 bronze corys
2 pepper corys (not sure what to do yet)

ok that the list so far i'm sure im no where near fully stocked or am i
Im open to any ideas for further ideas on what to add and how much i have to go

im looking at maybe:

Rams
dwarf cichlid
some thing i little bigger than what i have
maybe some room for some form of algae eater im sure at some point i will need some

Besides your two Peppered Corydoras, the rest of your stocking are all fish that need 23-25C, so it would make sense to rehome/swap these two for another two Bronze Corydoras.

This will then leave you with a schoal for the top (Harlequins), schoal for the lower half (Rummynose) and a schoal for the tank bottom (Bronze) i.e. a nicely balanced tank. You could get a peaceful surface dweller like an 8+ group of Hatchetfish, or my personal choice would be to boost the Harlequins and Rummynose upto 15 each instead, which IMO would look lovely and give each group more of a natural feel without cluttering things up with another new species addition.

As the saying goes, sometimes less is more...

Just been to LFS (MH) told me they dont do water test only for people with new tanks or problems
so i told them i want to no if i can keep rams/apistos and was not going to buy them till i new the stats
so he agreed to test my water:
ph 7.5 i get 7 when i test it.
ammonia 0ppm
nitrite 0ppm
nitrate 10ppm
kh 4dkh = 71.6ppm
gh 5dgh = 89.5ppm based on 17.9 x dkh/dgh

so it this classed as soft?

i think this is your answer.So mod.soft for now, but by the look of your link, the water may well be changing soon.....
