Stocking My Juwel 180 So Far And Ideas Please..

Hi sorry its another what to shock thread, im going to list what i like, im looking for compatabilty and numbers


ok heres the list:

copper harlequins: how many?
rummy nose tetras: smaller group then the harlequins
corys: i have 2 already
otocinclus catfish: 6 maybe
dwarf cichlid pair dont no wich ones yet
emperor tetras: as i have 4 already

any advice welcome also i would like to know how much fist 180lts can hold
im not to botherd about having 10" fish in there dont see the point tank is too small anyway
i like groups of smaller fish

so i have a rio 180L as well.Internal filter, 25% weekly water change

17 copper Rasboras
16 Firehead tetras (just like rummys but with slightly more red colouring on the head)
2 Bolivain Rams

Thats all 3 levels of the tank covered

In addition, one extra school of 10 Silvertip tetras & 3 Oto's(started with 6, having trouble getting them to eat other stuff apart from cucumber)

don't know which corys you have, but a believe most types prefer to be in groups of 6, same with tetra's

Depending on your water have a look at some Apisto's

edit:worked up to this level over 9 months.

as a starting point, min levels IMO

10 Copper Ras
6 Rummys
6 Emperor
6 cory
2 dwarf cichlid

you can then add numbers to each of the above but what depends on the cory type you have,which dwarf etc

so you have about 50 fish is that you fully stocked now?
i have a fluval 305 filter

my corys are peppered i though you could mix them up??? said LFS
i have seen some dwarf cichlid's but i dont no with they are maybe i can add them last

Peppered corys prefer cooler water than other cory species and will suffer in warmer water. What temp do you keep your tank at?

24 is their max comfortable temperature. You'll find a lot of dwarf cichlids prefer 26-28 degrees; so they may not be suitable. Always best to select fish based on the environment you keep.

+1, and you can in theory mix and match any fish (re corys ) and it's your tank, but i've always found that fish behave more positively in larger numbers of the same species.
This is only an opinion.

Peppered should be kept at <20C most of the year, they are sub-tropical Corydoras, just like Pandas. At 25C, a group of Sterbai or Emerald Brochis would do much better.

I nearly commented on that when i brought up the link!

That temp range is what is commonly seen for fish like Redline Torpedo Barbs. It does not mean that this fish can be kept at 25C all year round, but rather the locations where they are found vary from 15C to 25C over the year. So, on average, you want the temp to be less than 20C for most of the year, but the tank could have a seasonal summer spike that approaches 25C.

Keeping a fish at the higher end of its range all year round will mean that fish will live a shorter lifespan, because its metabolic rate has been kept permanently high. At the same time, the fish will be more hyperactive, eat more and therefore release more ammonia into the tank water.

4 corys
6 rummys
4 emperor

all now waiting for the rio 180 it become ready
