Yes, fish tb can be transmitted to humans and other pets. It is very rare, but it does happen.

Just make sure that the temp matches closely, or that if anything it is slightly BELOW the temp of your tank. Your heater can make up the difference, and if it is added slowly, the fish are just fine with it, as it emulates a rainfall.

Unfortunately, this is a hobby with alot of "myths". What works for one person may not work for the next. I always use hot water added to the cold to fill my tanks. If I didn't, my Sunday water changes would take a week to do if I had to heat the water with an aquarium heater before adding it to the tank (I have 10 aquariums running at the moment). There is really no guide on what to believe and what not to. I find someone I trust and try their advice. If it works, I stick with it. If it doesn't, I look for better advice.
