Stocking Ideas

My new 90L tanks will soon be fully cycled and i will be adding some fish; it has a sand substrate and will have quite a few plants. i currently have 5 danios, 3 platys, 4 corys and 2 dwarf gouramis. i think i will move all of these across to the new tank so i can use my other tank for something else.
i am thinking adding:
2-4 more corys (can i add any cory as i have 4 bronze now.)
8-12 neon tetra
2-3 key hole cichlid
and maby a few other things but not sure yet.
do you think all these will be ok together?
i would like a bichir but think it might eat everything else.
do you guys have any ideas which will add a bit more colour to my tank?

neons shouldn't be added to a new tank, they're quite fragile these days. also think that 90l is too small for the keyholes but i've never kept them. I'd forget the birchir as well. Corys will get on with anything tho.

i wouldnt be adding the neons for a few months anyway.
in the section about keyholes it say 20 gal will do.
yeah i didnt think the bichir was really an option but i do like them

I think that isn't possible. Adding a pair of keyhole into a 90 litre is ok (a bit of a squeeze though)IF there are no other fish in the tank.

Keyholes would be okay in a 20g but a little small males can get quite large and also would probably be competing with the dwarf gourami for top spot in the tank so to avoid conflict I would probs do

2 Keyholes or 2 Dwarf Gourami
3 Platys
8 Neon Tetras
8 Danios
5 Bronze Cories
5 Panda Cories

As said bichirs get way too big and predatory for those fish, the smallest gets to about a foot.

I wouldn't advise you to do what Wills has advised doing because having 31 fish in a 20 gallon tank is too much, especially with Keyholes which can reach 5 inches. Also there are too many bottom-dwellers there

Hmmm, I added 9 Neon terta to a freshly cycled tank 2-3 weeks ago. They are bright, healthy, feeding well and looking great. Not one loss so far.

I agree with keyholes perhaps being a little too big for 90l - why not look at dwarf cichlids like Rams, Kribs or Apistos. I currently have 9 Neons, 7 Splash Tetra, 2 Gold Rams, 7 Pygmy Corys and 3 Amano shrimps in my 90L tank.

im now looking at bolivian rams, i am a bit disappointed about the key holes but i cant have everything.
think im going to go for:
6 bronze corys
5 leopard danios
2 bolivian rams
1 flying fox or rainbow shark (not too sure about these but i like the look)
8 tetras (possibly neon but there are some other nice looking ones)
3 platys
and maybe 2 dwarf gourami but i might leave them in my 60L

I'd forget the shark and the flying fox - they'll both be too big and disruptive for your tank.

The platys can be bullies, I've always had very placid ones but its a risk. Also if you get males and females they will breed and you will run the risk of ending up overstocked through their offspring.

The Dwarf Gourami - as others have said - may come to blows with the Rams. Again its a risk; you may get ones that get on or you may get ones that kill each other.

I really like my Rams, they're very responsive fish - they've been in for just over 2 weeks and they already know me and come to the glass when I walk in. My female is just rounding out and I think she may spawn in a few days. Cichlids are such wonderful fish that they are worth stocking around. I would suggest you stock to keep them happy and they'll keep you happy in return.

i thought the shark and flying fox only got to about 6 inches ish is that to big? is there anything similar which would be more suited?
the platys are already in my 60L and they are all females and seem peaceful enough
i also already have the gourami they seem ok but one is definitely slightly more aggressive but not to bad.
i have always liked cichlids but ive only had a 60L so i didnt bother, but now i can, just ha
