I was pretty certain about what I was going to put into my tank and then a coworker of my husband offered to give him 2 angelfish so now I was wondering how or what we could have with them if we got them.  I believe they are domestic silver angelfish but I am waiting to hear back.  Right now we have 6 neons and 6 corydoras,  The angelfish are tiny, about the size of  a quater, if they grow up with the neons would they leave them alone?  How does this sound...

2 Angelfish
12 neons
6 corydoras
2 german gold rams

Thanks for your input!

It's a very difficult question. I'd say that eventually you would find you're missing neons.

You could sub a school of larger tetras.
Are you getting a mated pair of angels?

Ok so I rehomed all the angels... I'm just not willing to chance my neons becoming food.

So here is what I am thinking
12 neons
6 corydoras
2 gold rams
6 otocinclus
4 nerite snails

And now I would really like to find something for the top spectra of the tank that is not a livebearer.  Any suggestions?

There is a chance. Although rigging up a cover to fit around the filter cutout isn't too hard. Just a piece of plexiglass, or similar plastic.

I went with zebra danios... not at all what I was planning on but I really like them.  I'm hoping they can handle the little bit warmer side tank I keep. I decided to skip the otos.  And I'm not too sure what else we will add.  This is good for now :)

Is it 55g or litre? If its 55g I'd go for some Harlequins. Spend their time up in the top 3rd, shoal well and are very active, also look great too!

I would go for either  a pair of angels or a two males - females can sometimes still lay eggs by them selves which can cause problems.

Just worth thinking about :)

But just wondering if you only have your Zebra Danios at the moment why not look at other Asian temperate fish?
