Thanks for the pics, i've been looking at more videos on youtube and now my wife is smitten.

I've been reading up and seeing that various people keep some with a shoal of (neon) tetra, is it morally poor to take a chance and not worry that the tetra might be eaten? (Obviously I wouldn't keep replenishing the tetra stock if that was the case!).

2xDP, 5xNT, 1x Amano Shrimp?


Checked with my locals, one only has figure8 puffers, and the other (a maidenhead aqu store) is checking for me, although the lass got a bit confused with what I meant by dwarf puffer (I did say freshwater so they didn't confuse with their fuzzy dwarves I know they have) and went on about a green brackish puffer.

what you are looking for is indian freshwater dwarf pufferfish

im not to sure on the latin but most shops apreciate that much

anyway i wouldnt rish it with tetras, definately not, they are realy agressive and unpredicatble, and the amano shrimp is likely to get eaten, the tertas are just guna get nipped to death, and you dont want that.

as for obtaining one... you can always ask the shop to orser them in for you, some shops will do this

That's why I'm waiting for the one place to call me back.

The first one didn't offer this time to check if they could get them, though, the last few times they did they never ever got back to me (I think they couldn't be arsed to tell me no as they wouldn't get a sale).

Still nothing yet, asked again in store but they said we don't have any atm, though I think they are confusing it again with the GSP (my wife was the one that asked in store, I wasn't there).


Checked online, and only one place (directtropicals) so far. £15 min postage is a bit harsh for a £3.25 fish, but I guess I might just have to live with it, will probably put some plants on any order I make too.

I think I've just found the answer, I was looking around and found the website of a place only a few miles from here (6miles, the others being 13-15miles into the stupid gridlocked city), I knew they were there but thought they only did pond stuff, but the website showed a very nice selection of tropical fish, tanks, even reptiles.
So shot off there instantly, displays are immaculate, fish stock are thriving and have lovely plant displays. The lad that works there owns it, and seems knowledgeable and echoed the usual sentiment that DPs will not get along with other fish mostly, instead of the usual worry that the LFS staff will try and suggest it's all okay

DPs in stock? No, but they usually do so I left my email/phone and he will let me know when they next have some. He said he just made an order and will have no one this time, so looking like around May now which isn't so bad. Prices are okay, same as the larger chain but a bit more than the internet obviously, although no need to pay postage, and less stress on the fish.
