Stocking Advice Please

So I was blessed to go from one 30 gallon to two 30s and a 55. I'd like some suggestions on how to best arrange what I want. So currently I have:

30:

Rainbow shark (has proved to be quite aggressive)
Angel (1)
Danios (4) 2 of them glofish
Neon tetra (14)
Oto (1)
Various mollies (5) + babies
Ghost shrimp maybe 12+

55:
Danio (1) they're fast that's all I could catch to move so far
Tiger barbs (5)


So the way I'm thinking of breaking it down is:

5 angels plus the mollies in the 55 (I'll let nature take it's course)

Tiger barbs and zebra danio in a 30

Glofish & neon tetra in a 30

Still need to decide re: Rainbow shark & ghost shrimp & oto. Where would they be best?

In the neon tank I'm going for bright colors and fairly small. What might be some nice additions?

What else would go well in my semi aggressive tank with tthe tiger barbs?

Also, shake things up even more: I liked an African cichlid I saw at the store today. So I'm wondering if anyone can think of a way for me to get what I want into the 2 tanks so I can make one 30 gallon a cichlid tank. I know the tiger barbs and angels are a def no. How about tiger barbs with neon tetra? Since they don't have fins? Or how about the neon tetras in the 55 with angels. But when angels grow will they be able to eat neon tetra.

If everyone puts in their 2 cents maybe I can come up with a buck

Tricky...I have posted on your other thread, but I think I'd put the shrimp and the otos in with the neons, the shark in the 55 and the danios and glofish (as they are the same species) I'd keep together. I wouldn't add anything else to the neons tank; I'd just up the numbers.

The neons could go in with the tiger barbs if you want to free up a tank.

Fluttermoth this sounds like a plan as those tanks would have each needed something else anyway. So does everyone agree (or are there any issues) with:

5 tiger barbs
14 neon tetra
5 zebra danio/glofish
1 oto. All in a 30

I guess I should add 1 barb and 1 danio to have a proper shoal.

And in the 55 the rainbow shark, angels, and mollies?

Then I can figure what I want to do with the other 30 probably small cichlids

Oh and as for my rainbow anyone coming near the bottom sets him off

Just wanted to add otos are shoaling fish too, add a few more of those as well.

In the neon tank, great colorful fish would be: Trigonostigma espei (lambchop rasboras), endler's livebearers or pheonix rasboras. (These are all fairly small fish, 1-1.5 inches.)


I would suggest that the ghost shrimp go with the neons. They have a small bioload and would be fairly safe in there. I would NOT recommend the angelfish/molly tank.


Others to go into the tiger barb/danio tank... Serpae tetra in a nice sized school would be fine, I believe. Other options would be green tiger barbs (would probably school with the other tigers), rosy barbs or odessa barbs... They should all work in that tank, it's just a question of numbers.

Bigger fish means bigger mouths. Bigger mouths mean bigger things fit in them. It's not that they couldn't coexist happily, I just think that it is better to stay on the safe side.
