it's easier to ask forgiveness than permission
A friend has asked me this and as i nothing on chilids i said i would ask you guys, so here goes.
(His words)
A show type tank in a hole in the wall, between the hall and dining room of friends house (118cm L 58W 24cm W).
Got any ideas what type of low maintenance, advert /showy style fish I could use. Best I can come up with is fancy goldfish etc? or small Lake Malawi cichlids as they have links to malawi.
any help will be good

I'm assuming one of those widths is the height? I'm hoping it's 24cm tall that way it gives more swimming room. Tang shell dwellers come to mind too but those might be too small for his purposes.

i'm betting its only 24cm wide, since this thing is going in a wall.

tell him that nothing over 12cm should go in there--he's stuck with small, non-territorial fish like tetras.

how's he going to get in there to clean it? landscaping would also be a pain in the butt.
