Hey, I started a 36 gallon tank and had it running for about 4 months with an angelfish and a pleco in it. The angelfish is still small and wanted to add some more fish to my tank. Any suggestions?

Also I bought a Rubber Lipped Pleco from the Pet store about a month ago and was misinformed about the length it will grow to. Is a 36 gallon tank suitable for the Pleco?

you could get some black mollies (or any other mollies if you want) i find mollies really cool, especially black mollies and sailfin mollies. Also could have a school of maybe 5 or 6 barbs or something. Just be careful which ones u decide to pick if you do get barbs as some can be aggressive.

A school of cory's would go well. You could look at some of the bigger Tetra's such as Emperor Tetra's or the Red Eyed Tetra. Anything smaller like Neons or Cardinals may be looked upon as a snack by your Angel fish when fully grown.

The Rubber Lipped Plec you mention gets to arround 7" i think so your tank may be a little small depending on the measurements of it. Also Angels require an Aquarium which is a decent height due to their shape and swimming pattern.

Rubber Lip plecs should be fine for that sized tank only getting to about 4 inches - there are a few species with that name though, any chance of a pic?

I have to say, a pair of Sajicas in a 36g with an Angelfish sounds like a bad idea IMO.

I would look at getting a few more angels maybe 5 and wait for 2 to pair up and rehome the rest. Then with that a group of Bolivian Rams or a hareem of Apistos would work well. Mix that with other interesting South American fish and you have a great tank. I would do

2 Angelfish
4 Apistogramma Panduro 1 Male, 3 Female (though any species would work)
8 Lemon Tetras - though any rounder species of tetra would work okay, just as said avoid the torpedo shapes.
8 Panda Cories - any small catfish would work - or some small loaches like dwarf chain or zebras (though they are not American - depends if you are bothered or not, its down to personal preference)
1 Rubber Lip Plec

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I think I might rehome the Pleco when he gets bigger... But I can't seem to even come close to catching him! I'll post a picture soon of the Pleco but first he has to come out of his hiding place! :)

Okay this is what i was thinking of going with

1-2 Angelfish
1-2 Cory Cat
3 Black Phantom Tetra
4 Bleeding Heart Tetra
4 Bloodfin Tetra

Is this okay?

Your corys would do better in a group of 6+. As would the tetras you have mentioned. Maybe drop on of them and have a bigger shoal of your favourites.
