Stocking 190L

sorry guys, i'm just after a bit of advice on stocking my new tank. The tank comes on Tues and i will be moving my stock over (see sig) minus guppies and Hillstream. The guppies have gone to one of my father in laws tanks. The Hillstream went back to LFS because he wasn't enjoying Tropical temps. Anyways, I want more medium sized fish for my new tank (Juwel Trigon 190). I really want a pair of Angels, i'm not sure what else to put in with them. Like i say i want more medium sized stock. Am i pushing it at a couple of Clown loaches?

So you will be moving over a dwarf gourami and 3 albino cories? Quite a lot of room for more fish, first thing I would do is up your albino cories to at least 6 once you get about 10 you get really interesting behavior and you will enjoy them a lot more

Clown Loaches get too big for your tank but there are alternatives that will work in your tank such as Zebra Loaches, or Yoyo Loaches, Polkadot and Dwarf Chains as well. If you got some loaches I would probably do 6 cories and 6 loaches.

Not sure of the height of the 190 but you need a minimum of 18 inches to make sure they have room as they are tall growing fish, so long as the tank meets this they could work well but you might need to watch them with your DG as I have heard a few people have problems with them, I know I had a lot of problems with my angels (when I started out many years ago) with some opaline gouramis I had.

cheers Wills, i will end up uping the cory population, they won't be Albinos though. I was wondering about some keyholes or rams?

oh and the Trigons depth is 60cms, so its quite deep.

If you up the group of cories make sure they are albino or bronze - both the same species but just make sure because mixing different cories is like mixing different tetras.

Just checked and 60cm is just short of 2 ft so angels will work fine I think in that tank you could probs do 2 Angels and 2 Keyholes. Apistos work well with angels as well because they take up different regions of the tank for territory.

Quite a lot of cichlid options for that tank really.

I want more medium sized fish, i have had smaller fish most of my life, so its time to move on. I still may have a small shoal of Cardinals though.

hmmm okay so at 190 liters your at 50 US gallons so what I would be tempted to do would be -

2 Angel fish
3 Apistogramma - 1M 2F pick which species you want most are similar requirements, I would go with colours to compliment your angels
1 Dwarf Gourami - but be careful with him and the angels TBH if it were me I would think about leaving him in the 14 or taking him out if you want the angels.
4 Spotted Headstander - If you can find them Anostomus Ternetzi are a good smallish headstander as well but its hard to find these but stay away from the larger Anostomus Anostomus as it gets more than twice the size and can be quite nasty
12 Silver Hatchets or 3 Golden Panchax 1M 2F)
8 Albino Cories or swap the cories for larger cats maybe pictus? Or some of the medium sized loaches like Yoyos
2-3 Twig or Whiptail catfish - I like L010a the Red Dragons Very nice fish - I might have to get one or two for my tank now #41####....

Hope thats helped a bit still a few options for you to work out as well And maybe still room for a small school of a large tetra like Bleeding Hearts or Von Rios
