Stock My Tank For Me, What Shall I Have?

Dwarf Cichlid community, with a few pencilfish and hatchets for company.

Lots of nice caves and hideyholes for the females to nest in!

thats a nice idea, what about if i had:

a pair of angels
a pair of dwarf cichlids-probably either bolivian rams/kribs/the one in your sig.
some red-eye tetra's
1 plec
some loaches/corys

all in planted

The dwarf cichlids are pretty much bottom dwellers but will swim in the middle of the tank if there are peaceful schooling (dither) fish to make them feel safe. I would suggest at least a trio of Apistogramma's (mine's a caciatuoids) 1 male to two or more females, as the male keeps a hareem rather than pairing up, more females stopes an individual from getting too stressed, a bit like guppies. You could have a couple of angels in there but they may become too boistrous for the dwarfs. Also the red eye tetras may be quite nippy, I had to evict a female cherry barb after she got into the habit of munching my apisto's tail, their finnage can get quite long, especially the caciatuoids. Cory's and plecs would be fine, just be sure to have enough caves for them all. And add a few easy plants for cover between the caves and it'll look great. Generally peaceful fish will be fine as the apisto's can be quite timid with boistrous tankmates.

Just checking as you said it had to be freshwater.

I would recommend some Red throated gobys as bottom dwellers...such personalities!

yeah, i think so, lets count them out, coz even if i had green spotted puffer, he would have to be on his own

They can get confused with another type of goby also sometimes refered to as a red throated goby which are indeed brackish (I think the brackish ones get quite large they are known as Dragon gobys ...

ok thanks, i am now torn between a peaceful beautiful planted tank with small fish, such as neons, rams etc or an agressive tank that will be fun to watch, either some type of new world or pufferfish

well yeah, i do have 2 planted tanks already, but thats coz i like planted tanks, b e a utiful!

i dunno, i will decide, just thinking about all the big and nice fish i could keep though, like davo86 suggested T-BAR cichlids, they look great.. anyway i will decide over the next few days

How about u breed kribs if ur not into breeding maybe some drawf barbs such as tigers and cherrys

An RTBS might be too big for a 125 mate. How you getting on with your HW?

it says it grows to 5/6 inches, so it should be fine i think

hw is fine, my dads gonna pick up a mag 2moz to try and find a second hand rifle,

The panchax are lovely lively fish, when I had mine they were so tame they would swim through my fingers.

Personally I'd ditch the tiger barbs - nippy and a lot bigger at adult size that you imagine - for a school of praecox rainbows - 6 would be nice.

I'd also ditch the t-bar and rtbs and go for a more unusual dwarf cichlid pair - not rams or kribensis but something of similar size.

I'd go with a plec, maybe a BN or again something a little different like one of the hypancistrus or even just a variety of BN like L182.

Just my opinion.
