I have a juwel trigon 190 which has numerous inhabitants, very much a "mish mash" of various fish. I am in the process of changing the gravel over for sand and have a new layout in mind which will have a heavily planted feel to it. My original plan was to only keep my two pearl gourami, sterbai coryies and two Bolivian rams. I was going to add a group of harlequin rasbora and leave it at that. However, I am now thinking of other options.....one of these is to start over again with discus (four of them and nothing else). What do ppl think? Any ideas?

I know if I started over again I would go for a 1 species tank, they always seem to look nicer and more relaxed than having a load of different fish.

Yeah that's what I am aiming for or at least to have less different species than I have now. Also thought about some angel fish but concerned they would attack the pearl gouramis. Anyone have any experience of keeping gouramis and angels together?

Pretty sure angel fish and pearl gouramis are good tankmates i think i asked about it on here before and everyone agreed.

To the original question, how about setting up a biotope? I'm finding biotopes really interesting at the moment.

I have 2 angels with a pearl, moonlight and golden gouramis. No problems.
