i can almost certianly say there will be at least 1 male in any group of females (in my experience anyway) i picked up 5 females about a year ago, 2 of them were males and i was avoiding male looking fish

Sounds like sbd from ur description. Isolation is a good idea. A pea wont hurt but it is likely from injury due to fighting. Sbd genarally clears on its own but sometimes the fish has lasting effects. So long as she isn't struggling to breathe @ the surface and can eat, she should be fine.

Is the fish's belly very round and fat? As if they'd swallowed a marble? If so id be wary of constipation in which case cut back feeding and the pea should help. Fast a day after feeding the pea. I still suspect injury. Can happen when fish fight. Pea wouldn't hurt in either case.
