Well, I've never went through all of these steps in the cycling process. I've usually just cleaned the tank very good, and let it cycle for a few hours to a day or two. I've never let a tank cycle over 3 days. I've never had a problem with fish dying or anything either? Actually, it was the guppy that had the babies. The molly is pregnant too, but she ate a couple of the new guppy fry. Back when I had guppies a couple of years ago, I didn't have to buy fish for 2 or 3 years because they were always having babies.
I then went to angelfish for about 3 or 4 years and they laid eggs as well. I would always get fry, but they would end up eating them.
