Starfish In Tank?

Hi , I have just received some shells, iin the box was a smal pearlised shell and a small starfish. Was wondering if it would be ok to add to tank? Was just going to have in boiled water to disinfect?
Any suggestions?

What, a dead, dried one? Eeeew! I wouldn't add it-boiling might turn it to mush

yeah was thinking that, perhaps just an ornament then or give it to one of the little people in the family, starfish soup anyone?
