i have an empty 30 gallon and have just seen some gorgeous spotted puffers at the lfs.

never kept them before but was wondering if i should give them a go.

they had them in fw tank and when i asked the guy if they should be brackish, he said, they can be but they are easy to convert to fw. got the feeling what he meant to say was, i don't really know so shall i make it up for you madam.

so, how do i convert to brackish, i've read that they're probably better on there own but i was hoping to get more than one, would they be ok.

any info please, i don't want to get them before i know what i'm doing.

one more thing, if they're in fw now how do i aclimatise them to a brackish tank

You need to find out the scientific name as these are commonly missnamed by lfs. If its a spotted nile puffer Tetraodon shoutedeni then its FW. If its a green spotted puffer Tetraodon nigrifilis then its FW while young moving into brackish as it matures.
