Spotted Gar Sore Nose

What is needed is a bigger tank, large fish rubbing their noses on the glass is a sign that they are cramped and require more room. Gars typically need tanks that are at least 30" wide from front to back as their ganoid scales are fairly inflexible which means they need a huge ammount of room just to be able to turn around. Time to check with the bank manager for a loan for that 8x3x3' tank.

I wouldnt bother with any serious medications, a little melafix never hurts but other than that just clean water and a bigger tank is what is needed.

Well the melafix seems to of taken the redness away and i have placed some driftwood against the end of the tank he was rubbing on and he has stopped for now but i think your right on the size, and the catfish is going to need more room soon as well so Can you recomend any custom tank builders i guess if im going to lay out for a massive tank i may as well go the whole hog and have it fitted in the wall for maximum effect.

The plan is to move the catfish/gar/eels to a custom tank then move my cichlids to the 6ft and sell my 5ft tank to pay for some nice wild frontosa (Plus my wife wont let me have anymore than 2 tanks in the house  and i allready have 1 at work lol )
